Welcome to Gilbert and Swayne

Chocolates from the village of Baltonsborough, Somerset

Gilbert & Swayne’s Workshop will be Closing

Image

My workshop will be closed from Monday 13th July until 31st August due to renovation work and the installation of new equipment.
During this time, I will be experimenting and developing new flavours and also spending some much-needed time with my family.
The online shop will re-open on Tuesday the 1st of September.

Re: one day courses – I will be looking at the possibility of starting chocolate making courses again from mid-Autumn, following any guidance from the Government and the local Environmental Health team. To maintain social distancing, these will be for individual family groups or single households of 2-4 people.

Gift vouchers for courses can still be purchased by emailing me directly jane@gilbertandswayne.co.uk

Thank you all for your understanding. I wish you all the best of health and a very enjoyable summer.

Warm wishes,
Jane Swayne

Chocs Away!

In trying times of tribulation,
One needs some tiny chinks of light.

So, two Jane Chocolates every lunchtime,
And dreams about them every night!

They arrive, with hand-tied ribbon,
Hand-made paper on hand-made box.

Inside, a fragrance so divine….
Fair-Trade, organic, hand-made chocs!

I’m amassing a collection
Of every varied, pretty box.

But, for this, I pay a price……
I have to chomp through lots of chocs!

Passionfruit and Champagne?
Food for spirit, soul and brain!

Cardamom and Ginger?
Oh, I could be a binge-r!

Cherry/Apple Eau de Vie?
How this hits the spot for me!

Prune d’Agen?  Lime and Basil?
Reach for these, whenever frazzled!

Spicy Damson? Lemon and Bay?
Limoncello and Earl Grey!

Orange and Grand Marnier?
As smooth as Michel Barnier!😉

Coffee and Somerset Brandy?
Always keep these nice and handy!

The flavours are so fabulous.
They quite defy description.

They are not sweets… They’re medicine…..
They should be on prescription!

Are your taste-buds tingling yet?
I bet!  So, let me say:
“Go and Google Jane Swayne ….

CHOCOLATE FOR CHARITY

Gilbert & Swayne has always had charitable work at the heart of all it does with 10% of all purchases going to a charity of your choice.

Jane recently made 1200 chocolates for a fundraising event organised by Hugh Bonneville for his favourite charity, Scene & Heard at the Mayfair Curzon.

Jane and Dinah met Hugh and Elizabeth, and were also treated to a pre-screening of the new Downton Abbey film, all in aid of the wonderful work of Scene & Heard.

Dinah, (Jane’s sister-in-law & next door neighbour) is a retired book conservator & creates all the Italian memento boxes in her garden studio at Gilbert’s Corner.

Scene & Heard is a unique mentoring project that partners the inner-city children of Somers Town, London with volunteer theatre professionals.

Their mentoring scheme and theatrical performances help to build children’s aspirations and boosts their self-esteem. Your support is invaluable and a small donation can go a long way to engendering future change.
